Poem -

How many people care?

How many people care?
I mean really care?
How DARE ,
You Ask Me....
About the relevance of HBCUs
As if my people haven't been killed and abused
An HBCU
is the only place
where we feel safe
We are living in a world
that wants to destroy and erase
Our existence
Our power
Our legacy
How dare you ask me....
about the relevancy
Of my people reaching for higher education
Another reminder
Of how sick and twisted this nation is.
No it's more like an insult
Trapping the minds of my people in a vault.
You are really asking me
If I am still relevant
Hate me
Because my schools creates empowerment
 psychological and social liberation
They kill us because together we are a powerful nation
An unstoppable force
Trying to knock us off course
Trying to make us divorce
Our own school
Going against our own views
Made me reflect
About the neglect
The disrespect that has gone on for centuries
So many of my brothers in penitentiaries
So many of my sisters going missing
Can't believe you
have
the audacity
To ask me
Are HBCUs still relevant
Tell me this
Is America still relevant
So much blood it could flood the entire planet and beyond .....
Now it's time to trust with
Tenasity
It's time to pool money
Like a mad swimming athlete
And add with me
Together we can cure Catastrophes
