Humidity My Oppressor

Sun comes out,
Moisture thickens the air.
Shortening breath,
Normal work becomes twice the load.
Drowning the mouth and throat in water,
Tartarus upon me cursed with unquenchable thirst.
Wicked heat despot lashes out at skin with flaming rays.
Unstoppable sweating has me swimming in my clothes.
Longer are my breaks giving me time,
To realize the more energy my oppressor has drained.
Grant me mercy summer tyrant,
Give me a breeze so the tightening muscles ease.
Not even night cools this humid hell,
Day time workers sound the bell of retreat.
Heading home where their to hear the news,
No sooner will this week of weather's wrath have any relief.
