Hypoxia Lily

*Ian's Lost Soul Challenge*

Hypoxia Lily

A bed of satin to rest awhile,
Eulogistic words on lips beguile
Pungent sweet stench of lilies,
Paradise lost now Grim Achilles.

Bible thumps in funeral knell,
Dormant in this state I dwell.
Episodes of asphyxia overwhelm,
Disorient in purgatory realm.

...Muted tormented scene,
Nightmare nocturnal lien.
.......Knowing you're all alone,
Silent screams, your own......

Hopelessness felt in somber tears,
A lover mourns for fleeting years.
.....Death....HA......what a crock of lies,
Condemned to bear.... kin and kith cries.

All senses sharp, Rigor Mortis, hyper-feelings,
Pondering chapel ornate ceilings.
Then... a jolt as lid slams down,
Embedded 6 feet below ground.

A spirit still haunts a rotting hull,
Beetles burrow into a skull.
Bearing, everlasting burn,
As worms dine and churn.

Formaldehyde oozing from pores. The worst,
... Awareness dawning, you are cursed
Hypoxia lilies suffocate a sullied sod,
......Iniquitous belief.... there is no God.

Guilt and remorse.......
...Par for the main course.
.........Ravenous insects hum.
Apprehension looms….Hell has just begun.

Wow! Amazing poem Lisa! Pinned.

This write is exceptional from start to finish...The stanzaΒ

A spirit still haunts a rotting hull,
Beetles burrow into a skull.
Bearing, everlasting burn,
As worms dine and churn.

Really stood out to me. Although it was hard to choose only one.

Stay safeΒ  - Syd xoΒ

Thanks for the invite Lisa. I'm not a very good writer when I'm sober though and I feel like I need a break from alcohol for at least a couple of weeks. (It'll never happen lol)Β

I'll see what shit overflows from my septic tank at some point probably, although I do find it hard to write to a promt.

Take careΒ  - Syd xoΒ Β

Truly spectacular! You've captured death in so many ways here while producing poetic excellence!

Absolutely. You created a fearful spiritual journey through the agonies of a lost soul!

The language isΒ extraordinary. I like all of the comparisons throughout the poem. The end is the best part. There is a sadness within the poem, could fit in the "Grave" challenge as well. Nice work.Β

My Dear Lisa,

A powerful death defying write.Β  But what is left behind after one's passing, for the predators of their remains to feast on, does not contain the Soul, which immediately was reincarnated.

All my love,
