I am

I am a caring girl who loves animals
I see a family giving up their dog because of a baby
I hear the dog crying for its family to come back 
I see a once sad dog turn happy 

I pretend to be happy that he has to go 
I feel sad because I took care of him for so long 
I touch him for one last time 
I worry that this will not be his forever home 

I understand that he needs his second chance
I dream that he stays in his new home forever 
I try not to cry as I see him leave the shelter
