I AM HOMELESS IN WINTER

The weather outside is frightful inside delightful I am homeless in winter,
All the shelters and churchs are full a nother night in the cold a storm
is coming with snow and ice and wind I hope to find a warm place to
sleep my hands are cold my feet are wet and cold maybe the shelter will have room
tonight I am homeless in winter,People walk by and never say a wordΒ Β or try to help me
I am homeless in winter the subways are all closed at night I must find a air vent with heat
I hope I don't die tonight, I am homeless in winter maybe tonight the churchs will have room
I found a shelter that has room inside its delightful outside its frightful I will sleep and eat tonight
I am homeless in winterΒ

Dear Greg,
Show me the way to go home
Give me shelter, with a meal hot
Provide a bed, where I can spend the night
And tomorrow, I will thank you a whole lot
Love,
Larry xxx
Thank you Larry
No one should be homeless not in this day and age
houses lie empty that could be used let all the homeless
get together and make use of them.Β 3rd world NO it's
everywhere and governments should be ashamed of
letting people live and die this way.Β As my poem
"The Blind Beggar"

I work for a homeless charity our motto is make homelessness history. Unfortunately due to the covid pandemic we have been made to close our shelter and our charity shops. However, we are still managing to to house people in supported living. Not enough is being done in the world to help those in need xxx
Sorry Samantha For not getting back to you sooner that is wonderful that you work with homeless and hope that you help them out
Greg it's a total shame and travesty poets have to write well constructed and presented poems to drill a poignant current message home to others.
No-one should ever be or become homeless in this so called modern and civilised society. A 21st century society that still has Victorian and pre Victorian problems all around.
Yeah, I suppose we have come far with science and medicines just need to advance more than a tad or two on human empathy and morals and stop bloody worrying about the cars one drives.
And never forget that for many around the world they live day by day and hand to mouth.
Great poem Greg that tells it how it is and pulls no punches.
Deserved and respected full marksΒ and kudos to your good self for giving a damn about all the less unfortunate souls out there.
Who deserve better.

No one should be homeless
At any time but there are two kinds a homeless Those who are mentally ill
I know used to be a place to put them but not anymore and there is the bum Who wants to be homeless that will feed off other people Thereβs nothing wrong with them
Theyβre just lazy and want to hand out and they can work but I donβt want to
Greg it is sad either way in what you say and with regrds to the latter there will always be some who choose to bend, buck or simply break any system safety net (of a sort!) to merit their own designs and selfish needs.
It is the former that modern society shouldn't let fall through the cracks or be shunted to and beyond its fringes.
