I cannot believe

I cannot believe

I cannot believe that you are gone,
Not for a second, it all feels wrong.
I raise my hands, I can't embrace
That where you were there is now a space.

I can't believe we let it pass
For anything to stand 'tween us
For you and I are like a tree
So intertwined it's hard to see
The places where we're separate
As two we're good, as one we're great

My darling I cannot perceive
That you are gone, that I can leave,
That sev'ral thousand miles of seas
Can break the bond 'tween you and me
I'd rather wait for time and tide
To show us what the oceans hide.
