I Can't Change

I was afraid.
I didn't know how they'd behave.
But I was shocked.
They put me in a box,
mailed me to the closet.
I thought I'd never get out of it.
Tried conversion therapy,
nothing changed me.
This is what I was born to be,
but you still don't love me.
Why don't you want me?
I just want to be free.
And nothing can ever change me.
So take me as what I was born to be,
even though you still won't let me be free.
Just please, oh please, accept me.
