Poem -

I Dated A Queen

I followed an angel, up one step, into a beautiful carriage
The footman, removed the step, and tucked us into velvet
My heart began to race, I was afraid of what I might say
I could not even attempt to be myself
So I decided to listen with unbridled depth (I laughed to myself)

I had not even known anyone who had spoken with royalty
It felt like a dream world, where everything seemed brighter
And the steeds that drew us into the night
Seemed taller, and stronger, 'and probably ridden by a knight
So I tried desperately to pull my pulse back together

As we approached the palace, I looked up at the sky
It was all so overwhelming, I felt I might cry
Then, I caught  a smile from her perfect profile
It was right then that I finally realized
That my Queen, was really, the night sky......
