I Do Care

I Do Care

I do not want to lose my hair!
I always thought I wouldn't care,
that if it meant that I would live
then all my hair I'd gladly give.
But faced with the reality..........
I've realised now it's part of me.
A mantle which I wear with pride.
A curtain when I need to hide.
A Siren's tangled, wild cascade.
A tidy bun for times more staid.
A snapshot of the life I've led.
A tousled mess while in my bed.
A dampened blanket when I weep.
A cushion when I finally sleep.
I thought that if it meant I'd live,
then all my hair I'd gladly give,
but now I really, truly care.
I do not want to lose my hair!
