I Hate You Form B 104 82 ( spoken word )

I hate you Form B 104 82.
I despise you.
Hate is not a strong enough word.
I hate that you start each day so tall.
I hate that you grow so small.
I am sickened by my writers cramp.
I am more sickened by the cause.
I wanted to lead men.
They made me list them instead.
Then send.
The impersonal, so dreaded.
Form B 104 82.
Decent education and a flair for filling forms.
Just an area H.Q clerk.
Just one bloody job.
The names will always live with me.
The names I have had to scrawl.
On the forever hated
Form B 104 82

awesome write Nigel
Thank you my friend. This one sort of took me by surprise. I was scrolling through one of my history feeds and found an article about the need to create Form B 104 82. That by 1915 the numbers alone meant that a generalised death notification notice, a form, had to be produced. Then it suddenly hit me that if so many were falling every day it must of been somebodies full time job to fill them in and send them. Their full time job. Every day for years. The sudden pity I felt for that poor man 100yrs ago made me write this.
Lest we forget.
Nigel
The spoken words make it even a more emotional write well done Nigel.
Thank you. I think this was one that had to be read out loud.
Thank you Barry, I'm hooked on history simply because of the endless supply of surprising stories and the occasional,Β sometimes quite profound realisations. AsΒ happened here, reading that quite early in the war they found the need to mass produce death notices and the sudden realisation that somebody had to sit with the received reports writing and stamping the form. The military never move anyone that seems to be good at what they're doing so those clerks in area command posts would of done so for a very long time.
When you look for the story of the common man history bursts to life.
Thank you my friend
