I Have

I have words, words I like
words I adore, words I admire.
I have words I guard, words I strike
words I don't, words I require.
I have words I lust, words I crave
words I ignore, words I seek.
I have words I trust, words I brave
words I revere, words I speak.
I have words I want, words I need
words am enforced, words I choose.
I have words I state, words I bleed
words I leave, words I lose.
I have words of impulse, words of instinct
words of emotions, words of indifference.
I have words featureless, words distinct
words of necessity, words of preference.
I have words I avoid, words which find me
words I eat, words I shove
I have words I court, words which flee
words which I have a beat, words I love.
I have words to speak, words to write
But nothing to service, not a single thought.
I have words of quiet, words of fright
Words I need to say, yet daily a battle fought.

Hi Sambit, As I looked at this as a whole it drew me in as it is visually beautiful as well as being very apt for a poet. I have too many words....but a few just for you.....This is brilliant as usual.

Shukriya so much Lorna for your continual generosity! :-)
This one is the result of a writer's block. Tools are there but nothing to work on!
Words are those things we use to fill the spaces between us. Sometimes they can facilitate true communication; more often they are finely woven masks to hide from each other...and ourselves.
For the poet they are something else perhaps. They are the imperfect mirrors through which we try to see our reflections...the subtle materials we try to sculpt into art, but usually end up creating mere self-portraits.
When we were at school, my oldest friend was fond of declaiming, "Words are power!" ... and perhaps they are...but they are much more difficult to wield than they first appear; it takes patience, persistence and practice...in short, you need to be a poet to write poetry.
And this is a fine piece of poetry, poet.
J ;)
You leave me yet again at loss or words, no irony here I suppose, with your boundless, sensitive, intelligent and insightful unfailing generosity. I am so very gratefully humbled and thankful to have the opportunity to be a student of your words as well.
Shukriya so much Jason! :)
