Poem -

I Know You

I Know You

I met you once

in a dream.

You had long blonde hair that

flowed as gracefully as the feelings

between us.

Your eyes were not green

like the man’s in my bed,

but blue.

A color so deep I found myself everyday

wanting to dive into them and swim

around in your mind.

You took my hands into yours

and every callous you had told of

the hard work you put in to get to me.

Your hands were leather and cracked

like an old book cover

and I wanted so badly to live within your

pages.

Like a child peeking through a curtain

I parted your flesh to reveal your heart

and saw myself reflected.

Without doubt or hesitation

you lifted my spirit to heights unreachable by

those before.

But,

in that moment of frozen heat

you sifted through my fingers like sand

and I awoke

back to the prison of His green eyes.

This was amazing to read, some amazing use of juxtaposition and some really eloquent sentencing. I look forward to reading more.
