I Love Old Country Music

I love old country music with its real stories of life
of a loving husband and loving and faithful wife.
Stories of the wonderful times we have had
and the beautiful songs of dear old mother and dad.
The songs of cheating and drinking and broken hearted love
and the wonder and power of gifts from above.
The wonderful pure life of country up bringing
and family joining on Sunday for gospel singing.
I love to hear Eddy Arnold's "Cattle Call"
and Roy Acuff's "Wabash Cannonball".
I like the wonderful words of Kris's "Why Me Lord"
and the beautiful "Amazing Grace" by Ernie Ford.
The heart breaking songs of good love gone wrong
and being away from the one you love so long.
Songs of love and life fading away
like George Jones's "He stopped Loving Her Today".

Charles,
I love the country classics too. I didn't know many of them until Urban Cowboy came out and all those nights of dancing. Must say you left out Meryl Haggard! I like your poem...
