Unsung Heroes

We have books and songs of heroes of every kind
Which brings the unsung heroes to my mind
Like teachers and nurses and compassionate care takers
The hard working laborers and medicine makers
All those dedicated husbands and wives
That work constantly to improve our lives
Though they sometimes have hardships and pain
They continue day after day and never complain
The great heroes give us hope and inspiration
But the unknown heroes perpetuate our nation
If I could erect a monument to honor them more
It would probably look like your neighbor next door
