~ I Love You So ~

Feel my touch upon your cheek,
find the true love that you seek,
be strong, now, instead of weak—
just know I love you so.
I'd reign in the moon and stars
just to be there, where you are.
Know, my sweet, I won't stray far—
because I love you so.
All through life I’ve loved you so.
Now, my sweet, it’s time to go.
I’ll return one day, you know—
because I love you so.
Never waste one single day
shedding tears for me, I pray.
Live your life, but come what may—
just know I love you so.
Do whatever you must do;
find a love that’s warm and true.
I’ll be there right next to you--
Because I loved you so.

This poem is beautiful Dean!
Thank you, Terry.
I wrote this for my now ex-wife just after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I wanted her to know and understand that if I should die before she did, I would want her to be happy, regardless.
I also wanted her to understand that I would be there to watch over her and that I would always, without question, love her.
As it turns out, she decided to end our 22 year marriage abruptly claiming she couldn't bear to stay and watch me die.
Yeah...right.
I'm sure it had nothing to do with the 33 year-old man she met (she's 42) who started pursuing her and showing her attention.
But, I digress.
Thanks again for reading and your stellar review.
Hugs!

Dear Dean,
I'm sorry for the heartache you had to go through. I was left alone when I was bedridden for 3 years so I can relate.
I am in awe when I read your work. So unique. Wish I could have a few of your brain cells!:-) Thanks to you for your sharing your work and life experiences. Warm and fuzzy...

You're far too modest, Terry. I've read your poetry and you write beautifully.
I do appreciate your kind and thoughtful comments however.
I rarely delve into the realms of romantic poetry so the fact that you enjoyed this is very encouraging.
Take care and thanks again for reading.

aw so sweet...sad but sweet
I rarely write this type of poetry any longer, Sarah. I'm pretty careful about exposing my tender, softer side.
I believe it leaves you vulnerable.
However, there was a time when this type of romantic poetic fare was all I wrote.
This poem was written during that time and revived here, on Cosmo.
I thank you most sincerely for reading it.
Hugs!

I understand what you mean I too believe some things shouldn't be revealed by your appearance. lots of people will watch me and think she's spoil but they couldn't be more wrong. the fact that I smile does not mean I no nothing of loss, struggle or pain.
So goes the old saying:
❝You can't judge a book by its cover.❞
