I Prayed To God

I prayed to God for the children of Africa:
They came down with disease.

I prayed to God for plants and animals:
A forest fire destroyed some of these.

I prayed to God for a cancer victim:
He died anyhow.

I prayed to God for peace on Earth:
It still has not been found.

I prayed to God for the old people
Weak and ill with pains

But He did not answer my prayers
Each day their suffering starts again.

These days I don't bother praying.
