Poem -

I was meant to be your mum

For H

I was meant to be your mum

"I'm sorry I'm not your mum" was a thought I'd think not say, every time I pulled you near to wipe your tears away

A little boy with big blue eyes so trusting And so true

A little boy to teach me how

 to do what mother's do

I didn't even realize the moment that we met, that I was just a started mum

you had much to teach me yet

I'd spend many nights awake

just thinking what to do....

...how could someone as unsure as me be any Good for you?

I wasn't very patient, I battled every day but little by little you began to lead the way

You made my days brighter and with every passing ray

those sorry feelings of not being your mum they began to drift away

It took me time to realise

that falling in love with you

was all it took to find out

that I was the mum for you

Every day I'm still learning

what it takes to be your mum

but I'm so very lucky to have you my first most precious son 💙
