I Was the Flame

I Was the Flame
You were the fire and me the flame
Love was in the whisper of your name
You were always good for my soul
With a heart like treasured gold
One cold and lonely autumn day
We went on our separate ways
You were my hope my glory and my love
Swear angels sang our praises from above
My tears were falling like the autumn leaves
Guess that my heart needed time to greave
My footprints got lost in the winter’s snow
Because my acing soul had nowhere to go
My heart drowning in endless spring time rain
Couldn’t seem to escape the undying pain
Felt my spirit withering in blazing summer sun
My heart was wracked with the damage done
The four seasons have not been kind to me
Lord I pray give me wings set my soul free
My teardrops like the morning dew on a rose
Take my heartache to the place the river flows
Love can grow and flourish just like a dream
Or leave one lost and broken hearted it seems
I guess in myself I must start believing
And bring an end to all of this grieving
