Poem -

If I

If I have brought just one soul-
Into my Father's house to warm....
If I have fed the hungry-
and saved someone from the storm......

If I have given a smile or two-
To one heart who 'twas feeling worn......
If I have laughed in unison with a friend-
Brought encouragement to the torn-

If I have believed in angels-
Sent down from God above!
If I have faith for miracles!
If I have shared with strangers of God's love!

If I have held a babe in wonder....
Of God's awesome ways!
If I've given time to help my elders-
and brought kindness to their days!

If I have forgiven those who have wronged me-
If I have stood firm, holding their names up in prayer!
If I have then walked on in my Lord's strength-
and rested in God's perfect judgment there......

If I have set for precious children-
An example to follow that is true.
If I have written just one word.....
that will pull another fellow through!

If I have given hope to one who is weary-
If I have to the lost, help them Jesus find!
Well then, my life has been well lived-
These treasures are of the lasting kind!

If I have forgiven myself as I've forgiven others!
If I have lived faithfully this path designed for me!
If I have labored to bring glory to my King!
Then, I shall depart this earth's last moments.....gracefully.

If I have obeyed the Holy Spirit-
Knowing his Holy Presence, in depth; so true.
If I have shared such drops of sweet wisdom-
With another soul....perhaps was you!

If I have loved beyond this earth and sky-
The one who placed this breath in me!
Then, I will leave this earth; fulfilled my friend......
Smiling still------------- in eternity!

May God Be Praised.

Note from author: I wrote this poem last year around my birthday.
I was feeling down on myself for not, at this point, feeling as though
I had accomplished anything GREAT for my Lord....as I had always
wanted to. He gave my heart this poem, the same hour. He reminded
me gently and sweetly of the real treasures of his heart! I shall praise
him always and forever! Needless to say, I stopped my pity party!
God is my everything. He expects us to do what we can.
