If I Was Free...

I know there is darkness,
I know there is hate,
But most of all,
I know the light is great.
My heart soars,
With thoughts of the unknown,
My pulse roars,
As I pass the milestone.
The wind rushes by,
Giving me thoughts of flight,
The sun shines high,
Giving me power to fight.
Letting my true feelings free,
I am finally able to see,
Letting myself have a spree,
I am finally finally spreading glee.
The stars sparkle and shine,
They speak to me in whispers,
The stars call me divine,
They emit all kinds of flickers.
My feet carry me through these roads,
Freeways, highways, ramps and so,
I've seen all kinds of abodes,
But just not knowing where to grow.
I aspire to be a traveler,
I yearn to stay alive,
My chains make me a graveler,
I know I can survive.
I'm just like you,
I'm like no other,
I'm trying to build anew,
Just one problem after another.
The moon shows different faces,
Changing with the tides,
I guess I'd better count my graces,
That I can even make strides.
Time waits for no man,
It has its own speed,
If only I knew its span,
Would that help me succeed?
The flowers bloom in spring,
They die in winter,
The thought makes a sting,
But that'sΒ life at its sinister.
I am my own person,
I really am me,
Would it really be a burden,
If I was free...
