If We Could Live in the Past

If we could go back three hundred years
There'd be no mobile phones
We would talk face to face.

And there would be no cars:
We would travel slowly on horseback
Appreciating nature and the world around us,
Rather than rushing by it all.

We could arrive at a town
And stay at an inn
Then look around the town
Walking through cattle markets.  Slowly.
Texts?  Only those written in books.

We rush so fast these days, I feel
All knowledge at our fingertips.
I feel it would be healthier to slow down.
Savour the moment and what we've got.

Properly connecting to the World
Rather than to the internet.
