I’M FIGHTING FOR LIFE

They say that I'm fighting in this unbeatable fight
But I'm fighting for life
I know that tomorrow is not a promise
And I'm thinking that maybe my mission might not get accomplished
Maybe it's from all the pain I see
All the misery
And I try to make sense of it all
Why can't I make sense of it at all?
The uncertainties about it
I have my own reasons to doubt it
I'm out there hoping for change
You can find me standing in the darkness trying to explain And if I have to die crying
Let them know that I didn't go easy, I died trying
To make this a better place to grow
I'm just trying to give back everything that I know
Because I once stood in the corner soul searching
I once stared death in the eye with my soul hurting
And if I could just give it all back now
Get them all back on track somehow
Some would say that I'm fighting in this unbeatable fight But, I'm fighting for life!

As a cancer survivor I so connected with this.
Nice, I would love to hear this performed in a poetry slam. This has a feeling of determination and competence without sounding egotistic. I love it
Thank you for your comments. Most of my poems are written about people that I have met in my life. I close my eyes and try to become who I am writing about in order to capture what a person is feeling. I write "real life" poetry with hope to motivate and inspire others.
