Poem -

In Bloom

In Bloom

You compare me with nature, beautiful but cruel.

My limbs outstretched, waiting for you

to plant the life that springs inside me.

The soul-bearing womb,

be fruitful and multiply.

can't you see that even roses wilter?

nothing lasts but I blossomed onto you,

our roots inseparable.

Before these veins emaciated,

From seed to bloom,

I flowered until my petals died,

Until I fell and laid against you.

My broken stem was your life line.

The wind took me with our creations,

our shared joy scattered

in the distance forced between us.

A leaf on me waves to the withered,

lost figment of our imagination.

The non-existent hopes now beautifully destroyed,

dismantled before our weary eyes.

and we ask nature why.

The unforgiving dasher of life

and the fertile dreams,

stealer of platonic love.

It thrives on us- the maternal ambition

for replications, the preventer of youth.

The taker of our metaphorical purpose.

We had dreams together,

it envied our duality.

We had the ability to grow

until inevitable decay.

The rot soured of regret.

We never fought against the force

that threatened our home.

We were encompassed in ourselves

until we lost what we could have had,

The death of possibilities.

You see a child and wonder

what could have been?

Innocent eyes divert to the sky

Taken, beautifully destroyed

and dismantled before our weary eyes.

Now we don't ask why.

This was home-grown disaster

that served us the precious sacrifice,

the ultimate result.

we dried up, laying silent on the ground

and hear nothing but the wind go by.

This is so very creative and beautifully written
we wear each other down in relationships instead of building each other to be the best version of ourselves

My broken stem was your life line.

this line made me feel such empathy and sadness.
I really enjoyed this
Well done and welcome to cosmofunnel
