IN THE FACE OF THE SEA

IN THE FACE OF THE SEA

AT THE BRINKS OF THE SEA
I SAT AND STARED
AT THE TIRED LESS WAVES,
TOSSED TO AND FRO BY THE WIND,
WHILE FOAMING AT THE MOUTH.

BUT THE WAVES AT TIMES
RETREATS INTO A RIPPLE,
ONLY TO RISE AGAIN
INTO A TOWER OF STRENGTH.

I SEE MYSELF
IN THIS NEVER ENDING SAGA,
BEING PULLED AND PUSHED
BY LIFE’S CRUEL GUST OF WIND,
WHICH SURPRISES MY PEACE,
AND UPTURNS MY CONFIDENCE.

NEVERTHELESS, I TAKE COURAGE,
IN THE DETERMINATION OF THE WAVES
DANCING ACROSS
THE FACE OF THE ENDLESS SEA
UNDETERRED BY THE FURY OF THE WIND.

WILFORD BARKER.
