Poem -

In the in Between

In the in Between

As I close my eyes,
I hear the pitter-pattering
Of rain, upon the tin roof above.

Its soothing song
Coaxing my body;
As a wave, it washes over me.

Only here, I find you;
In the in between.
Between sleep and awake.

Oh, how I long
To feel your milky, white skin
Upon my chest;
Glowing under the moonlight.

To once again
Know the rise and fall
Of your breast: and heart
Keeping perfect rhythm.

Here, in the in between,
I keep safe what remains of you,
Yet I no longer can live
In your stale memories forever.

They taunt me.
Haunt me.

For your face
Never seeming to fade;
And be upon each stranger I meet.

I fear that will n’er change.

Away from me you remain,
Yet I will always have you
In the in between.
