In The Tropics

In The Tropics

I dripped on the drawing board when a/c broke down,
sometimes I seemed to be the hottest man in town;
there were no seasons and no reasons for leaves
to stay on the trees, only to encourage busy bees.

I had work to do, holidaymakers swanned around,
strangely I felt sorry for them, so much to the pound,
they asked me where I went for my holiday, nowhere,
just swung between two trees, watching bodies bare.

A friend of mine lived in Hawii, which was so serene,
the temperatures, 75 and 76 degrees, nothing in between,
then, an accountant in the West Indies, well now -
suddenly boring became beautiful, nirvana anyhow.

Got there and back just in time - if you look at things now,
not so good, but then our man in Habana could only say, 'wow!'
