Inconceivable Imagination

Inconceivable Imagination

Ā
A gift bestowed before birth, but smothered over millennia
and renderedĀ  by nature, a weakened thingĀ  making Ā you fearful .
Removing any passion Ā needed to forge aheadā€¦aheadĀ  into an unknown futureā€¦
Imagination opens your mind to see futures before they become reality
Because all things are possible with imagination.
The hypnotic, mysterious sound of the Hunchback whales oceanic song,
weaving itā€™s mellifluous magic through every brain synapses.
To be stored in your heart memory forever
and to be awestruck with a beauty that exists within your mind.
Marvelling at the ā€˜Stone of the Sky god ā€˜its origin and power to remain so still, so mysterious.
To consider the how? why? When? of itā€™s beingā€¦
all possibilities you can createā€¦
The wonder of the sparkling carpet created by synchronous firefliesā€™
building stories in your secret thoughts of magic and illusion.
And what of the dumb silence of the Mexican mapini? You give it a voice, words
A life, existence..
Knowing that all things are possible with imagination and yetā€¦.
finding impossibility in imagining how God can love, care and know everyone who was ,
is or ever will beā€¦
But all things are possible with imaginationā€¦
Give me imagination to hold close and to feed my soul with endless
possibilities of unimagined miracles.. and an eventual destiny.

Imagination opens your mind to see futures before they become reality
Because all things are possible with imagination.

Richard Wagner once said that, "Imagination creates reality"...and for the creative artist that is most definitely true. Indeed, it's true for everyone: artist, journeyman, junkyard dog ... but it's the artist who makes a life (if not a living) from it.
If the world is drawn in black and white...the imagination paints it in colour.

This is a thoughtful poetic exploration of the nature of imagination...created and shaped in the mind of a fine artist...and rendered reality in the form of a poem.

Marvellous!!

Hi Jason, I was always being told off as a child for staring out of the window into the orchard surrounding our school..imagining all the things going on in there- for me there WAS a reality in the orchard . I do wonder sometimes if imagination was stiffled for so manyĀ  as a form of control..it's only when imagination allows you to think beyond the ordinary ..into the extraordinary ...that advances are dreamed of and created. Never take imagination away from kids..we can learn so much from them. Love your words and thank you for them!

Ha!
Me too!! Though in my own case, I was constantly being barked at for staring out the window at the Derryveagh mountains...which were the convenient, no!...commandingĀ backdrop seen from every classroom in my old National (Primary) School; in fact, I wrote and posted a poem (The Boar Desired of Diarmuid) about that very thing a few months ago.

Unfortunately, there's little 'wonder' about it; the tendency to imagination in children (in all of us) is most definitely stifled as a form of control. Whether this is a deliberate and conscious act, or merely the byproduct of an increasingly systematised and atomised world is almost immaterial.Ā People with imagination, with the ability to see beyond what is spoon-fed them by political and corporate authorities, have a disruptive habit of asking deeper and more searching questions of their leaders and don't easily fall for every marketing and advertising trick thrown at them. In short, they're poor citizens of the global marketĀ who don't play well with (and to the tune of) others and have an annoying love of thinking for themselves...usually to the detriment of "the bottom line".
The Good Shepherd's biggest worry was never the wolf; it was always the one or two free-thinking sheep who'd wandered off by themselves to choose their own paths and make up their own minds. Who knows what joys and wonders they'd have discovered in the wilderness?! We'll never know...nor shall they...because the shepherd saw the danger of their example to the others and went to great lengths to return them to the 'safe', tedious monotony of the herd.

And so it continues...

I think we are entirely..as they say ..on the same page here Jason! Maybe we need to start aĀ  new movement with the slogan.... 'Imagining Imagination infiltrating every nation- imagine all the consternation!'Ā  ....I'm imagining it now....... xx

My Dear Lodigiana,

Imagination slays the beast within
The dream destroyer is no more
Now free to hear the whales sing
And to watch the fireflies soar

.
I travel now to brightened stars
The future there is stored
And then I find my destiny
Which so long has been ignored

.
Love,
