Poem -

Inferior

Β We're all flawless when we're in the sky-
the only ones who hurt are the ones left behind.
"You have her smile, her eyes, her laugh"; well I'm sorry to disappoint but sadly I'm just me.

And she's lovely, I know.
Looking on proudly in ethereal robes.
Lauded by all- my mother the doll eternal in her beauty.

And then there's just me..
compared to her since I was three, unable to achieve her sublimity.
never reaching perfection.
Never exceeding expectations.

I just don't know what you want me to do.
Or is it just that my all and everything isn't enough for you?
And I'm scared to speak the words in case it's analysed and misconstrued and in the shadow of her I wouldn't want to seem rude but it hurts! I just want to be seen at more than face value. And I'm so, so sorry that I'm not more like you- but I promise I'm doing the best that I can do.

The simple fact is that I'll never be her.
No matter how much you think that I need her.
No matter how much you raise up the mirror, I'm still nothing more than a counterfeit exterior.
The reflection is always going to be inferior.
