Injustice and Sorrow

Betsy was a handful of that
there was not doubt
She drove her mother quite insane
off her dad she got a clout
Now her brother was an angel
the apple of her mother's eye
But my oh my
that little lad was sly
Now Betsy was a little miss
fun her middle name
But that poor lass suffered
which was such a bl ...y shame
Soft now that brother of hers
cried at everything
Betsy fought his battles
knowing he would never win
Had a heart of gold did Betsy
yet no one could see within
They didn't look inside the book
Which was an awful sin
Her brother cleared off
to lands far and wide – the tears
her` mother cried
Heaven forbid you'd think
he was the only child
Now Betsy could have followed
and lived a better life
But it was not meant to be
her mother laid on
the spite
But Betsy had a spirit that would carry her through life
Angels her guardians protecting her through strife
The daughter she had pushed aside causing hurt and pain
was the one she should have cherished, she realised much too late
Her mother held her closely
Yet words were left unsaid
But in those last few moments
Sorrow raised its head
Oh! wasted years of bitterness
Sadness in its wake
Why was love not given
Before it was too late
Betsy cried a million tears
The past shall not remain
Her heart sings in silence
The cruelness of life's fate
The Wheel of life forever turns
Betsy smiles her time has come
Confidence once stolen
Returned to her in full
Her voice sings loud and clear
No longer does she stand in fear
This precious gift from God above
Fills her heart and soul with love
One would say her saving grace
Blessed with virtue
Love's Embrace
The video was created and sung by me - it took me until my mid 60's
to find the confidence to sing. November 23 I will be 80
Broken is the spirit of a child
