The innocence of Happiness
I remember when we was small
We never had to worry about anything
Mom and dad was always there
We only had to wake up and start playing
Playing cricket and football in 2nd street
Then going in the bushes to pick guava
And also to the garden with my father
Planting Dasheen corn and cassava
But time goes away so quickly
Quickly just like the morning mist
And leave you with only memories
Of the innocence pure happiness
I remember across the street from us
That Sunday Harry was getting married
And on the Saturday I got really sick
And my parents was very worried
So they take me to see Dr Maslin
Who send me to the hospital in San Fernando
My parents bough us cloths to go to the wedding
But I never got the chance to go
And I didn't see my home until 3 years after
I was diagnose with rheumatic fever at age seven
So I spend 3 years at a convelesting home
And I didn't get to see my home until I was age eleven
I was afraid and hurt and sacred
And I was crying the first day on the bed
And a nurse name miss Singh comes to meÂ
And she sat next to me hold my hands and said
"Are you a big boy " and I said yes I am
She said then don't cry again and be sad
and she brought me ice cream and cake
and she was my first grown up friend i ever had
I grew up and learned a lot in there
Made some very good friends I still miss
I cried when I reach home after so long
It was a return to the innocence of my happiness
I know that every one of usÂ
Have a time of innocent happiness
And no matter how old you get
In your mind that memory it will always exist
Today’s social media like Facebook and others
helps to connect lost friends and families
To allow them to get in touch with each other
After many many years of obscurities
And many will spends hours
Just sitting there trying to reminisce
Of the times in their life’s
When the innocence of happiness exists
the family and friends we grew up with
Are the ones we will remember tomorrow?
And those memories will help us smile
When comes a day of sadness and sorrow
As the days months and years goes by
We will always remember times like this
And the people who pass thru our life’s
Like the friends on our social media list
And in our travels through the journey of life
on the way we will see a lot of sadness
for there are so many in the worldÂ
who has never seen a moment of happiness
