Inspire Me
Drop a dream into the water,
In a moment it is gone.
But there are many ripples,
Circling on and on...
When facing life's many worries,
All storms you will pass through.
You will garnish many strengths,
And new found courage too.
You have often felt trapped,
And so dreamed of being free.
You will fulfil your potential,
To become who you want to be.
For no goal worth attaining,
Is ever easy to achieve,
It takes work and dedication,
And the power to believe.
Believe in yourself.
Simply believe.

Wonderful poem and topic! welcome to Cosmo!..........................Jim
Thank you so much for your warm welcome and it feels good to arrive.
And if good sir I may call you Jim, take care Jim and all the loved ones around you.
Live the first line
It's a fabulous 1st line. It really grabbed my attention and I had to read rather than scroll. The whole poem is good. It is a lovely uplifting read. Something positive in a pretty negative world. Well done and welcome to Cosmo x
Thank you so much and I'm glad you enjoyed reading it and truth be told this site and good people like you are making my day. And if I may call you Being me, thank you for most kind and gracious comment Being Me and take care and enjoy all the good and great virtue's this life has to offer you and all the loved ones around you.
What a beautiful poem with a clear and simple message. Believing in yourself.... yes these words are what we all strive for but it is much harder said than done. One key example is my SO, and it worries me when she doesn't believe in herself, but I feel it within myself too. Lovely write. Welcome to the Cosmos
Thank you so much The fish of the sea for your kind and warm welcome.
I'm glad you enjoyed reading it, take care, thanks again and I wish you well.
And a warm welcome to you my poetic friend! I love this piece and hope now to read many many more examples of your talanted penmanship! I hope you enjoy being part of the Cosmo family! xxx Lodigiana
Hello Lodigiana and thank you so much for your as always, kind and uplifting words.
And Cosmo is a breath of fresh air and filled with, like your good self,
endless generous and heartfelt, caring and appreciative good people already.
An honest, vibrant place filled with honest and vibrant and from what I've seen and read already, happy members.
Thank you so much for that message a while back on that other place,
for without I wouldn't be here now, just trapped in the doldrums,
if you know what I mean.
Take care and as always Lodigiana remain poetry blessed.
Your friend Shaun.x.
Hello Shaun, you inspired me to look at first poems. I decided what better way than to start with yours. I am so glad I read this. It’s full of so much hope. I loved how you used the ripple effect, I hope you make plenty of ripples. Your words are so uplifting which reflects the poet I knew you to be. Kind, supportive and ever ready for your other poetic friends. I am so pleased Cosmo has good people like yourself. I pinned this to read when I am doubting myself.
Thank you my lovely poetic friend :)
Gwen, what can I say but thank you for taking the time to do so.
And how right you are for it's all about hope and to feel uplifted and bring out the positivity and good in each of us.
And touché when you tell of kind and supportive and ever ready and forgive this late reply for I rarely look back on previous poems, just like to move on and leave for any readers to enjoy and take anything constructive from, no matter how small.
And I thank you my poetic penfriend and kudos to you for your engaging poetry and for being the person you are.
A good person with a good heart.
Thank you Shaun. When we met today I didn't realise how moved I would be by your words. Perfect timing with words to uplift and remind. God bless you too!
Dotty and I humbly thank you for your kind and most uplifting, gracious words.
I wish you well and all the loved ones around you.
And I thank you again, for your heartfelt and most generous words mean so much to me and are never to be forgotten.
there is something a tad inspiring about these words Shaun .. I particularly like your penultimate stanza though which as far as I am concerned is also a universal truth ..
Much enjoyed sir ........ Regards & All Good Things, Neville :)
Neville thank you for visiting this one and your most generous comment .
I wrote this nearly three decades ago and people seem to enjoy it, so it was my first posting here.
I reupped this and added it it to my latest offering.
Both written to inspire and offer hope and dedicated it to two fine people.
Thanks again and also good things to you.
Good afternoon Shaun,
It as always was a pleasure to bump into you. This poem and your presence made our day.It not allowed us to live in the moment, but we now have a fond memory we can no reflect on forever more.
Your words have been shared in amongst family and friends.Goosebumps were shared to be felt from all.Moments like these restore faith in humanity, a kind word a pleasant gesture can result in good times for all.
So we thank you dearly from the bottom of our hearts.
Eternally grateful
Dave and Margaret and bonnie Benji
Dave, Margaret and bonnie Benji, your thank you reply, is one of the most beautiful replies I have read from a dedicated poem.
You mention faith in humanity, a kind word, a pleasant gesture, for you are so right in saying good things arise from them.
You also mention family and friends and all these things, these good things evolve and move on and grow stronger.
All fine virtues.
I was taught at a young age to share by my late parents and like your good selves how right they were, for good things have arisen from that simple and unforgotten teaching many years ago.
Your magnificent reply and its wonderfully worded content lays testament to that, an ethical sign.
And for doing so I humbly thank you.
Well I thought I'd do a you and find your first installment :)
this is such a positive piece, how nice is it to know that you have been a really positive force for writers?
I enjoyed this one too!
Lorna :)
Lorna, guess it's my turn to utter Blimey!!!
And follow that with with a big ta a big big thank you!!!
This humbled poet says thank you for journeying here and enjoying this first installment posting.
And this is my go to dedication poem to good people I am fortunate to meet at St Fagans Museum while scribing prose (good and bad!!) at a bench at a secluded quietude spot on its grounds during break with a cuppa.
My work colleagues call it Poet's Corner ... but I can't fathom why!!!
Thanks Lorna, kudos and all good things and respect to you for choosing to visit here :) x.
Good Shaun,
By reading your attribution, the list of your guest of honour is ever growing.
"a good thing and no good thing ever dies" - well said. My salute!
Best wishes,
Yiyan
Yiyan, thank you so much for making the journey here and your generous comments, please forgive this late reply, for life gets in the way sometimes along with memory.
And best wishes also to you my friend.
