Poem -

Night Fears

I watch you
I listen to you breathe
Put my head on your chest
So I can feel your heart beat
Content that all is well
I snuggle up against you
Trying to pull the covers to me
Smiling at the way you wont let go
It is really almost time to wake up
Take a shower and get ready to go
To the hectic pace of our lives
Work and driving and children
Parents and friends and holidays
Yet in this inner sanctum
I renew my strength
Safe in the love we share
The life we have made and cherish
At times I am afraid
That fate will be cruel
that some tragedy
Some blind sided event
Will take you from me
But I can only pray and give thanks
Leave the worry  with the night
and go make coffee
