Poem -

Invisible

I've always wondered--
what if I can't conjure the words
what if the ink ebbs into darkness
what if thoughts crumble into dust
what if flaws become the man
what if strength bleeds through my eyes
what if my brokenness is judged
what if wanton fury seems like redemption
what if unseen prisons become my tomb
what if
what if
what if I become invisible to you

I am tired of standing
close my eyes and dream
before the nightmares I dream of you
my muse-perfect then and now
awake I see the hooded man
standing in the doorway
drenched in red; seductive red
rising to my throat this choking red
all I want is to dream of you
far into this painted night
if the end comes losing the fight
turn my ashes into your ink
write my love for you
write only as you can
my love for you.
