Isolated Breakdown

When the world smiles
and you are tragically sad
the disconnect tears at the fiber of your being.
To be everything you are not supposed to be
is a crime in itself
yet the consequences spiral deeper.
Sitting gently on the outskirts of society
is not to be accepted
yet it is all you know.
Everything you've always wanted
is nothing that you need
yet it beckons in the night.
There is hope in the embrace
of everything you hide from
but the light seems impossibly dark.

Lost a steady flow in trying to capture my thoughts.. kind of disappointing.
A powerful poem of an anticipated voyage of a voyeur, known of but not quite ready to take part of. Although, from the norm as known by you, to the norm depicted by society, victim to placement of material gratification, isolated by the one thing in life she feels a yearning, to be a part of but wonders whether they were ready to take part in her. Feeling as though an outcast, not really grasping the fact that it wasn't she, that had all the attributes, that wasn't real necessities in life but she did have herself and she felt content in her own skin, when all was said and done....Secure with her securities but not the insecurities of the world that she knew....
Great poem,
Jim
