Poem -

It comes back to bite.

It comes back to bite.

Here you are, a ghost upon my doorstep.
I never thought you`d be one of my voices.
Now you`re clasping at my ears, hear you cackle through my fears,
Blocking out wolf whistles and applauses.

Maybe, I should have been more cautious.
These hidden idiosyncrasies just make me nauseous.
Now you`re here to cut me down, with your worries, sprinkle doubt.
While saddled up on high, mighty horses.

Regret it like the cigarettes.

Breath in and cough out to dilute the poisons.
But the damage is done, there’s scar tissue in your lungs.
It’s the permanent reminder that I find annoying.

Don`t know if I`m diving or I`m falling.
It seems, all the same, no resistance but no refrain.

I wish it could just be more normal.

But you can`t change the past.
No matter how hard you try.

Hi all,

I must say I`m surprised to be posting today, surprised to be posting again altogether. So much was going on and it hit me so fast that I had little decompression time. I don't think that's healthy for anyone. But finally, I felt in the right headspace to write and I feel as if I have quite a bit to share. I have 2 new poems in the works too, "Clockwork" and "Combat"! Feel free to leave a comment or message me to chat. Stay awesome guys!

@Max Denver

Max good to see you back and hitting the poetry ground running with your latest offering.
And what an offering it certainly is and life goes on, the way it's meant for better or the polar opposite.
And heads up time for I know you're an avid reader and if you enjoy Lee Child and his visceral Jack Reacher and have the time check outΒ  Amazon's new series of 8 parts called Reacher.
It's based on The Killing Floor novel and for me one of Lee Child's best.
This guy is Reacher in every department and can also act and carries it off superbly.
A season 2 is already commissioned and in the works based on what novel I don't know.
Like I say if you have the time.
I think you'll enjoy it.
Sounds like all is well with you judging by your all fired up end comment.
So thanks Max and looking forward to your up and coming Clockwork and Combat poems.
And stay awesome yourself and the good man you are.

Hi Shaun!! Thanks so much for your comment, what's been new with you? Funny you should say, I got a recommendation about that new book series the other day, but to be honest I`m about to finish scarecrow (Mathew Reily) atm. Sounds good though! Thanks for showing a keen interest in my work, I should really catch up on everyone's reads but will do so at my own pace ;). I hope everything has been well with you my friend~

Wow Max, I think I have missed some of your posts. So glad to find you are posting again my friend. I hope all becomes better for you in time. This is quite the ride Max. A sense of uncontrollable doom. Where we know the cause and effect and yet still we continue and we fall harder each time. You have a brilliant way of thrusting the reader into the depths of your message when you write. Don’t give up on that because it’s not easy to achieve. Yet you do so brilliantly. Looking forward to reading your upcoming poems :)Β

My favourite lines in this pieceΒ

β€œDon`t know if I`m diving or I`m falling.
It seems, all the same, no resistance but no refrain”

Beautiful rhythm and such powerful words that so many can relate to

Never stop being you Max, stay true and keep writingΒ

Hi Gwen! Thanks so much for reading! To be honest, this one was hard-fought. On and off my motivation wades, but I still love to read your generous comments~ I'm so excited that people still enjoy my poetry, it becomes hard not to give up on oneself from time to time. Once again thanks so much for your encouraging words my friend Gwen. I hope to read and write more in the weeks to come! Sincerely, your friend Max~

Always such a pleasure to read your work Max. Life can have its pitfalls, but keep trudging on my friend. Read your comments and believe in the words you find if you can’t believe in yourself right now. You are a fab writer Max, just keep going with where the flow takes you. I plan to look back on your writing, so be prepared. Gwen is gonna leave lots of worthy scribbles on your poetry :)Β

Keep that chin up and all will eventually calm in your head.I will be hoping for brighter days for you. Although for me it’s been two storms at once. Currently the winds are howling and the rain sounds like it’s punishing the ground, it is so very heavy.
Take care of you and don’t give up on your inkΒ
Your good friendΒ

Hi Gwen! I finally got back to you! Sorry, it took so long. Semi-regular is all I can manage atm. But thanks so much. I think confidence is one of those things that really stems from feedback and frankly, I have been overjoyed by the number of responses~ Especially by you~ But sorry that things are in a rough patch for you. To be honest, this write was written after the fact. The waves have subsided for me. If you ever want to talk about it, I'm all ears. Sincerely, your friend Max.

I do hope your life continues to flourish and move you positively forward. Thank you for always extending your friendship. Really hope you do keep writing MaxΒ

Hi, Max, glad you're back too. Love the piece for its honesty, sad though it be. The past can't be changed indeed, but its effects can be (as I have been finding out these past 5 years starting at 57 (help, in about a month I'll 26 😱I mean 62πŸ€”πŸ˜‚). As an ancient trekkie I state that resistance to The Borg is never futile... Keep writing, never doubt your heart (sez me who took his parents for serious and truthfulπŸ™„) Be reading you!Β

Hi John!! Thanks for checking in on my poem, it makes me feel less alone for sure. At least we can share our stories on Cosmos my friend and talk them out. I just wish I were on here more often than I can be. But really, your words uplift me and Happy Birthday in a Month mate! Hope you're doing well on your side of the world, is it warming up over there? Sincerely, Max.

Well, life is good here terrible loads of work (but love that - many happy clients) and a winter not too cold. Today we are going to be hit by a serious storm. No trains after two o'clock, just on the day the wife anf me are going sway for the weejend. Still, we can make the train trip, so all coolπŸš‰. Hope your summer is not too hot now. Keep cool

That's great to hear John! I hope the storm wasn't that bad and your weekend was wonderful. Bit of a snail mail right now, since uni is picking up. Overhear it's actually perfect weather, gonna be 30C tomorrow but other than that really nice. Hope you have been well my friend, sincerely, Max~

Also what you said bellow, I’ve had a block of writing lately or a block of life. Nothing seems steady of safe at the moment, chaos is everywhere, every breath.

i appreciate your honesty.
