It Comes In Degrees

It Comes In Degrees

I gained a classics degree from Oxford, worked in Boots,
but I could have been a financial manager, men in suits,
didn't want to run a corner shop, the hours too long,
leave that to the other chaps with a name like Wong.

Now, no one wants to be a trucker, not enough income,
we're getting choosey - do as you're told and then some,
working in a factory watching Coke bottles go by singing,
wasted my educational time, you really must be joking.

Could have been a care worker - worthwhile profession,
until you think about it - priorities become a manipulation,
let's be honest - you could be careful when destiny calls,
because not everyone is prepared to clean shit off walls.

Oh well, I'm still improving my expensive education,
reading Shelley between giving you your medication.
