Poem -

It's always been you

It's 10 o'clock
On Sunday morning.

You're still asleep and
I'm wide awake.

It's raining out
Actually it's pouring.

The drops hit the window
In a gentle way.
Like smelling a flower
On a perfect spring day.
Or like taking a drive
With the windows down.
Wind blowing through my hair
In a graceful manner.

I know you've been sad lately
So I try to keep my smile.

You've slept for 16 hours
But I'll let you sleep awhile.

I made a special breakfast
And got your favorite coffee.

I woke you up with
A shower of kisses,
As the words 'I love you'
Rolled off your perfect lips.

You ran your fingers
Up and down my spine,
And the chill I felt was
Calming and I slowly dozed off.

My dreams that morning
Were filled with you
But came to an end with a
Crash of thunder in the heavens.

I woke up frightened so you
Held me close and made me feel safe.

We played video games
Late into the afternoon.

And that night
Around 5
You took me to my favorite restaurant
And one of those new movies too.

That's when I realized
I wanted to spend my life with you.
