JACK FROST

JACK FROST

"Watch out Watch out Jack frost is about"!
is what my mother did say
keep gloves on fingers socks on toes my child!,
                                         when going out to play

When temperatures fall to zero,
and it feels as cold as ice
Jack appears white crystalised,
he chills you in his vice

He lays on ground a glistening trap,
                                         waiting for his prey
and if you don`t slip and slide on him.
He will get you another day

He kills off greenery and flowers
                                         no longer do they bloom
for he freezes the life from them ,
                                         to face impending doom

So "watch out watch out Jack frost is about"!
he is laying in wait for you
best wrap up warm all cozy,
for ole jack will turn you blue

Beware of his icy coldness
beware of slipping, at all cost
take heed of that nasty cold nip of his
no prisoners takes he, Jack Frost

Hello Sis Debs...

When we live in a place that Jack Frost visits...

He brings the cold yes...

The trees and flowers rest and absurb...

He is actually thoughtful in the winter lands...

Everything is cleaner and he helps cut down bug infestations...

He gives warning to the wildlife...

He helps with the breakdown of germs that grow...

When it's warm year round he doesn't bring those gifts...

Winter sports...

Children having fun in the snow...

He brings the cold for sure...

But, without his yearly visits...

He would be missed...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Hugs...

Hi Sis Sparrowsong This was a more tongue in cheek poem
I agree with all you say,At the moment here, we have had a hard frost
which has lain for the last three days my neighbour slipped yesterday
shes 80 it shook her up but shes ok. Tonight we have freezing fog as well
which has disrupted flights, and the roads are hazardous
so some of my words was sort of seeing that side of the frost
Thank you for your comments always a pleasure to read
Hugs Debs

Hope everyone stays safe...

People underestimate conditions...

We can have four seasons in a day here...

When there's a sudden change people definitely are taken off guard...

Winter=Crash up derby!

By accident...

Black ice is one of those things that is very deceiving...

Hugs...

Hi Dear Debs,

The iceman cometh.  He spreads his coldened air throughout the land.  He thinks he has killed off the greenery and flowers, but they are only playing possum, waiting three months for Mother Nature's warming sun to return, thus ending Jack Frosts reign, and rebeginning theirs.

Hugs, Peace and Love,

xox Larry

This is brilliant piece, it made me shiver just reading it sweetie. We have ice on the car that`s really thick this year and the roads are a nightmare, it`s been like that for the past fortnight. Black ice terrifies me when Geoff go`s out in the car, I`m a worry wort. I like to look at the snow but I`m terrified of falling as I have sciatica and arthritis and the meds I have to take make me shake something awful especially in my legs and I fall because my legs are so weak. I can`t walk without holding onto something and that`s all year round so I rarely leave the house when it`s weather like this. Well done for a superb piece sweetie, I`m proud of my Deb Debs.

Love G xx

Hi  G  I wrote this as fun but the hard frost we had lately
was a factor too, I`m sorry to hear about your worries
about falling not nice at all and you have my sympathy I would be scared too
I very rarely go out in the icy conditions for afraid of falling
Thank you for your kind comments dear friend
