JEALOUSY IS A DISEASE

JEALOUSY IS A DISEASE

I curse thee I curse thee I curse thee
the wizened hag screamed, displaying her rotted teeth
Her breath emitted the smell of putridness
a blackened soul, sucking goodness like a leach
A fair maiden the one, who this god forsaken
hag had spewed out her evil spell
N` er would she have a promise of a child
a life lived without one, would be her living hell

On  bended knees the maiden begged the hag
to change the black magic she inflicted
She would do anything to not have
to live her life, barren, forever afflicted
The hag filled with envy at the sight
of the beautiful young lass
Said "I shall grant thee thine wish but thou
will never look again into a looking glass"

"For I will scar thy face... so ugly
you will be
No handsome young lad
will  want to, marry thee"
The maiden wept but in solace
she still had hope to bare a child
Even if she were ugly she still had
a beautiful loving heart inside

And so it came to pass her hopes
and dreams all came true
She met a lad and in time
a great love grew
He did nt see her scarred face
just the person within
So he took her hand and asked
her to marry him.

Two years later they were blessed
with a bonny boy
Forgotten were the hag the curse
and her evil ploy.
Jealousy is a disease that eats away inside
the moral of this fable
An ugliness in itself,a curse I
condemn, as much as I am able...

My Dear Debs,

Wow!  Your lovely archaic tale has inspired me to write a followup.  Thank you for this so unique saga.  I love when you write in this ancient genre.  My embellishment of your beautiful tale is titled, "A Tale of the Beautiful Maiden".  I still cannot believe how your story moved me.

Hugs, Peace and  Love,

Larry xxx

You have me smiling Deborah.

This is so true. Love does not see physicality but the beauty hidden within.

Loved it
