Josephine

Josephine
Two kids out of school and Josephine was a good friend of mine
We spent Christmas together in the cold winter break of 89β
We played games and we sang with our families and friends
such a golden time
but those days are now gone and those distant memories are now only mine
In late 91 all our childhood fun wore a brand new face
in our teenage years we shared tales and tears of our lifeβs new pace
all those meadows and streams where our feet had been were so far away
we struggled through new times where our sun didnβt shine just to find a day
A day when we sat
and smiled
hearing the rush stretch for miles and miles
The time I held her hand
and ran by the sea
writing names in the sand
Letβs not grow old my precious Josephine
Our lives are entwined as you have seen
we grew like trees in the woods
our roots as one
our arms stretched out
to drink in the sun
By mid 94 all those years gone before were so hard to see
Burdened with life still dreaming you as my wife never meant to be
You cried through your days with the choices youβd made and I felt the same
How I longed for those days in the hills in the rain those years we felt so free
Drifting together then drifting apart
our paths oh so different like science and art
our friends made through lies
led us to despise our own sufferings
the pain that it brings
we want to speak out
but find thereβs no voice
the speed of our lives has stolen our choice
Itβs time we collide push all doubt aside run again in the hills
in true love
those thrills
our futures anew where we knew that we grew
in our hearts and our soul
One chance one dance one goal.
Josephine became my love in 2002
Weβd travelled far apart but we always knew
that one diamond day this moment might come
where our love broke the clouds and together weβd run
and play once again and stand in the sun
and hold on to each other for all the years gone
But love was not kind
it knew of a darkness that we could not find
that we never wanted to see in our life and one Winter's day
the stars took my wife
My Josephine my Angel my love what force has you flying now so far above
this world
where I stand
Your silver pendant in my hand
the few memories I hold
of my only life love this sad story is told
But live not with regret for the times you turned left
for those that turned right still faced the same fight
Itβs the choices you make that allow you to shake off the rain of emotion
we drop in the ocean
we precious speck in the makeup of life
I sing with no regret the times with my wife
my Josephine angel that youβve never seen
look up to the stars
and there in that scene
youβll see all our choices
our memories and more
and feel in your heart what youβre searching for
She looks just like you My Josephine
Iβll do my best from what weβve seen to teach her what I know for sure
That love is kind and truth is pure
and all that I can wish for now
Is to hold on and show her how
to stand in front of painful days
to step away from dangerous ways
to earn the gift that we both gave
Because of her my heart is saved
That's the way my Josephine fly through the stars
tell me what youβve seen
Glide on the wing
and come back to life
my only Angel
my missing wife
