Journey Home

Journey Home

Where am I
A stranger in the land I built
An outcast from the books I read
I am the abominable seed
The rootless fruit

Who am I
I never even existed
according to YOUR curriculum
I was born in the transatlantic voyage, the middle passage
To carry the name of Barclays
That name

Isnt my name

Uncover the faces behind the pyramids
The barbed wires of the Songhai empire
Let the daughters of Nefertiti ascend
Let the sons of King 'Jaja'  arise

Let the motherland                       call us back

And let the gods reign

Amara!  This is a great write…a cry for the true identity of the people to emerge from the cover an Anglo-Saxon name and origin!  Excellent!!! 5 stars for YOU!!!
