Joy In Childhood

Ah, how fondly I recall, playing outside all day long
My mother yelling, "It's time to come in!"
And being upset that the nighttime had to come
Because playing in the forest with my friends
Was so much magical fun...
Carefree summer days, swimming in imagination
With other kids from the neighborhood
Creating magical kingdoms
To save the damsel in distress
All in a days fun and only stopping for lunch...
Baseball, football, birthday parties
A never-ending stream of laughter
Filled with brand new things to do
Never bored, imagination in full bloom
Family picnics at the zoo
Grilling in the back yard, sleeping under the stars
Teasing my little sisters during
Saturday morning cartoons
The world was one big playground then
How I cherish and admire the memories
From those days in retrospect
I believed in Santa then
And family, as a forever friend
That would never, ever, end
Wow! ~ what a way to begin
This
Life-long wonderment,
That each day
We forget,
To appreciate
As a gift...

Hello Tony...
I loved the playfulness and back in those days we had our imagination...
You say to a kid I was 10 when Atari came out...
We listened to records and cassettes...
We thought we were really great when we got 8 tracks...
I didn't like being called in 'cause it was getting dark out either...
Then that wonderful word...
Bath!
Great write!

My Brother Poet Tony,
You bring nostalgic tears of joy to my eyes, with your remembrance of our beautiful childhoods. We loved the outdoors. We loved Mother Nature. We accepted Her every season, as we nurtured ourselves in Her sunshine or snow. We were always outside garnering in the beauties of nature, a lost art. For now, the youth sit on a couch and only frolic with their computers, the nature of the beast. Your words reincarnate those most joyous of times, the puerile vestiges of our ancient childhoods.
Peace, Love and Rockets,
xox Larry
