Just An Old Sheep Dog

I am just 
an old 
sheep dog
protecting
those around
me

I first realized this
when I was in High School
A Scrawny little fellow
was being bullied
by a 6 ft 4 Muscular Foot Ball player
Standing 5 ft 7
I challenged him
I stared him down
when he hesitated 
to accept my challenge
I dropped him like a bag of potatoes
truth be told 
if he had been 
able to give
the first
blow
I would have been finished

The Outcome:
the foot ball player
never messed
with that kid
again
in the end
we became
friends

It was this experience
that made
me realize
Not all Wolves
are Wolves
Sometimes
they just
need a little guidance
to find
the puppy
within...................
