Keening And The Kaddish

I’ve been visiting this gravesite, for over forty years;
Mourning the passing of my Father, crying a son’s begotten tears!
For just after turning sixty-one, he had to leave my side;
A man who looked almost half his age, but longevity denied!
.
Then, some twenty-six years later, more sadness came to be;
For like my Father, in mid-January, she passed at eighty-three!
It hit me very deeply, I had no parents anymore;
I searched for ways to heal it, my broken heart restore!
.
Since then, I have been coming, six times a year them see;
For we were living down in Florida, about nine hundred it be!
But September we moved to Dayton, just fifteen minutes now away;
So we see them very often, early mornings on most Sundays!
.
And now, there’s a new addition, in the middle of their graves;
A little rock is entrenched there, it completes this sacred enclave!
For an antique porcelain pin box, holds some fur from our little boys;
Our Angels Nico and Cody, who brought us lifelong joys!
.
It now feels so very different, than it ever has before;
For instead of talking to two loved ones, now we talk to four!
I love them all so dearly, and it helps to cure my blues;
With my Soulmate now beside me, as my Linda mourns there too!
.
.
What once was just one
Has now become four Soulmates
To visit and touch

Dear Greg,
What beautiful words you have written, that have brought tears to our eyes. Is there any chance of someday that you return to Boston for a visit, and will be able to see your parent's graves?
We love you too, and we will definitely be coming down for a visit next winter.
All our love,
Linda and Larry xxx
This is so beautiful It made me cry I am 17 and I lost my step mom over a year ago from cancer she passed the day before christmas. Losing a parent has to be the hardest thing in the world.
Dear Wynter,
So sorry to hear about the loss of your step mom, especially when it happened the day before Christmas. The pain from the tragic loss of a parent is excruciating, especially for a teenager. You have moved me so, that I would like to write something tonight (when I do all my poetry), and dedicate it to you.
Also, I'm going right to your site, and check out your works.
Thank you for your heartfelt comment.
Hugs, Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
