Killed Dead (pt. 4)

No more mystic runs,
And no more rustic guns! Called cavalry dispatched.
"Douse the fiery meals and burn your gaze!"
Said the maddened general, "...at the coming of hell blaze!"
"Ain't the whiskey what tricks your eyes, men!"
"Ain't the whore that turns your heart to heat!"
"But! 'tis the forthcomin'..the damned redskinned charger what took mah horse, damned cayuse that he is..and now
reckonin' is what he wants!"
"And he'll git it! Damned if he don't. Only mah hand is ready n' mighty enough to make his hide even more red..with blood!!"
"We will be ready, ah asure! We shall make recompense! For the deed this godless charger n' taker of good men's treasures!"
In the dusty horizon comes he
The worthy warrior with steed,
wind behind is all they need
To make recompense for the stolen
The heart of his heart of wild
She would be the mother of his child
She would be the princess of the prairie winds
She would be his
"Make speed, my friend. Make speed."
The restless warrior charges his steed
"The white-eye and his poison heart are fast!"
"They took the finest of the endless field, the world. The world of beauty that only has one for me. They took the one that would keep me and my heart alive. He took her!"
In the smoke of the doused flames,
the maddened general reacquaints himself with strong drink. The drink of lust.
He forgets the rising dust
The oncoming onslaught of his worthy enemy
In his cups of jealousy and burning memory
Of the very comely prairie flower in the arms of the wild warrior who seeks
To take her back and away from him
For if he does, he knows he will be killed dead....
