KNOW YOUR ONIONS

Take off my skin I won't cry but you will
I'm sure I'll give that burger an extra thrill
Chop me if you must and maybe even slice
Don't eat me raw or you will pay the price

I could end up in a jar pickled with friends
My colour is white or red it just depends
Researchers say that I'm good for your heart
Have me with cheese that's if you're smart

Chives, garlic and leeks are imposters of me
I'm just a plain old onion and want to be free
Stay in the supermarket with carrots and spuds
Pick something else to satisfy your taste buds
