Poem -

Lace Ribbon

I find,
when I cannot breath,
when I cannot think,
when I cannot even hope,
that if I pull at the string,
that surrounds my world,
so delicately,
like lace,
and silk,
embedded into my skin,
like drawing,
with a pen I cannot erase.
Like the love one cannot defeat,
there's this picture,
of a flower,
that is lost,
beyond sight,
that I've scribbled,
a thousand times,
each time it changes,
I cannot see it anymore,
a memory of a memory,
left by that ribbon of lace,
I use to hold myself together,
that ribbon of lace that you pull,
so gently,
so weakly,
that I pull myself apart.
In this world,
that is mostly my imagination,
my hopeless secrets,
I cannot hope to hide,
seem to slip,
from ear to ear,
like the water,
over rocks,
in near distant lands,
one can no longer ignore,
those perfect hopeless dreams,
inscribed in the lace,
which holds me together,
even as I fall apart,
even as I break away.
