Lady Elinore

Oh my heart still remembers
The way she looked that fine. Day
Between a child and a woman she was unaware of her effect
But the sunlight in mid spring
Seemed to dance  and sparkle
Like a crown on her golden hair
Her laughter floated on the very breeze
Her voice a violin
I was struck by her from that day on
Lady Elinore had my heart
She loved the bonny swans
Would often come to watch them
Their grace and majesty
One day she failed to be at
her belherd spot
She had taken illl of a broken
heart
As her beloved had been killed
In some awful foreign war
Now she sat in a high backed
chair
Weeping and whispering his name
If only I could make her smile
Get her to see the swans
I think she would be my Lady Elinore once more
