Last Dragon
Harken beast of the briny sea
Sailor be warned by dire decree
Large as life his teeth score
Hellish is chills on sea floor
Many a ship sunk on brackish storm
As gentle tides transform
Coming forth a marinerβs blight
Eyes that glow by dark of night
Angry lightning Poseidonβs bane
Bestowing a driven rain
Sharpened jowls, carving knife
Cutting short a sailorβs life
Serpentine at waterβs tread
A determined wrath wishes ye dead
A mercy at dawnβs early light
Captainβs prayer by cannon ignite
Halleluiah to a creatureβs demise
A monsterβs heart a valued prize
Vengeful gods have bestowed a decree
Those who kill are fodderΒ for a sea

I love dragon tales and stories of the sea, which you masterfully mixed here. Sent shivers down my spine! Nicely done. -Mimi. xx
Oh, and I like your picture of a blue dragon better than I like mine!
Lisa, I read this tale with a pirate's voice in my head, so matey, you told this dragon tale so well and had me shivering in me boots, though my heart is as black as the briny sea it skipped like a boy, so happily reading the wordsΒ of Poetessdarkly....you're the best, tributeΒ

I love this. :) So dramatic and full of powerful imagery. You do these sea pieces so well Lisa. I'm transported to a ship where I can feel the spray, hear the waves and feel a shiver from the danger. Great stuff. Hugs hon, Rebecca

Hi Lisa you are such a talented poet your vocabulary is amazing do you have an English degree or are you a teacher as your poetic language is brilliant x
Wendy nope to all the above. I have always flourished in English out of high school. I have written poetry since I was 10. I'm in my early fifties now.
