Late Spring, Early Summer

Late Spring, Early Summer

Forged by soft sunlight
your hair of flowing
grasses and wild rose,
weaves dreams in the eye
to bind the ruins of the soul
and flower the desolate mind.

Your mouth of ruby wine
charged with all the smiles
of sorcery, kind whispers
and secret words of love,
come soothe my bitter skin
with the breath of gentle wind,
seize me with the fierceĀ
bite of the tiger
and warm peace of the dove.

Hi Tina, hope you are very well. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my poem. It“s wonderful to be able to enjoy the caress of Spring and early summer again after missing them the last couple of years due to lockdowns and restrictions. I have been spending as much time as possible in the mountains and on the coast drinking and feasting on the wild air! :) Happy Spring to you! xx

Hello Tony,Ā

Just sublime writing hereĀ

ā€œto bind the ruins of the soul
and flower the desolate mindā€

I knew as I reached this moment, that this was going to be one wonderful read. These two lines alone hold so much depth. Trust me, coming from someone widowed young, I know this feeling. You gave it powerful imagery with your clever word choice. The rest of the poem did not disappoint. A truly captivating read. Your pen is mighty my friend

Gwen xĀ
